Let me introduce you to the truly wonderful Mexican family that I have in Cuernavaca:

Judith (pronounced Whoo-dit): Judith es mi mamá mexicana. She is a beautiful woman in her 60s with silver hair, a smile that warms you heart and the most loving spirit ever. Judith is a former teacher and practices homeopathic medicine. She cured my upset stomache with an herbal tea. She cured Erin´s stuffy nose with eucalpytus. Judith can rattle off what different foods and plants can do for your body. I love that she uses the diminutive ito for everything! For example, Shanon, quieres un cafecito o un tecito? (Translation: Would you like a little coffe or a little tea?)

Patti (pronounced Pah-tee): Patti, Judith´s daughter, has a house literally a few feet away from Judith on the same property. She runs a school/day care for young children in her house. Whenever I walk into her house, I meet little girls and boys that look at me like I am an alien.

Ugh! I´ve rewritten this post twice and it won´t save the whole thing! My time is up for now...

Adios!

Firstly, if there are intermitten typos it´s because the tecla (keyboard) is set up a little differently. For all of you Spanish language lovers, it is so much more fun to accènt, ¿question? or ¡exclaim!

On our three hour flight, I sat next to a chatty Chicagoan named Debbie. Debbie was on her way to vacation in Puerto Vallarta! I enjoyed our conversation and felt slightly intoxicated by her aromatic breath. The first thing she asked me was, Do you ski or ice skate? I proudly answered, No, but I snowboard. Debbie was impressed and called me a pioneer for women. Throughout our colorful chat, she used acronyms like WB (White Boy) and CRS (Cant Remember Shit).

We arrived in el Distrito Federal (D.F.), or México City, 30 minutes early! We disembarked the plane and noticed that some employees wore blue face masks. Along with the normal customs paperwork, we filled out a brief form asking us if we had certain flu symptoms. Erin and I passed with flying colors!

For those of you that have travelled to D.F., did you notice an abundance of wheel chair bound employees in the airport? One guy flew past us in a light up wheel chair!

We took a luxury coach bus to Cuernavaca and watched a cheesy dubbed movie with Jessica Biel and Nicholas Cage. Jessica looked hot, as always, but Señor Cage sported thin, greasy, poofy black hair. ¿Qué feo!

On to our neighborhood...

Cuernavaca is magical because most homes are hidden behind tall fortress like walls and brightly colored doors. Behind two huge white doors, we walked into a gorgeous property with two houses, lush gardens, a tiled pool and patios. Many of the famous Mexican celebrities and wealthier Mexican families have vacation homes here. The neighborhoods are mixed in income level, so you might have a grand house behind one wall and a very modest house behind another.

My one hour is up so I´m off to pay my 2 pesos...I will write about our host Moms next!

I love and miss you all! Besos! Caio!
